The entrants have been confirmed for Players Championship 13 & 14, which take place on May 4 and 5 at Halle 39 in Hildesheim. It’s immediately noticeable that many big names are missing for the upcoming Pro Tour doubleheader.
No fewer than seven of the eight Premier League players have not entered the thirteenth and fourteenth Players Championship events of the season. Michael van Gerwen is the only one making the trip to Hildesheim. Stephen Bunting, Jonny Clayton, Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Gerwyn Price, Josh Rock, and Gian van Veen are all absent, as are Nathan Aspinall, Ryan Searle, Carl Sneyd, Oskar Lukasiak, and Daryl Gurney.
The absent Tour Card holders are replaced by the highest-ranked players on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit who have made themselves available as alternates. These are: Joe Hunt, Derek Coulson, Tommy Lishman, Martijn Dragt, Jack Tweddell, Nathan Potter, Tommy Morris, Daniel Klose, Florian Preis, Steve Lennon, Ted Evetts, and Jack Aldridge.
From the very top tier, names such as Damon Heta, Dave Chisnall, Rob Cross, Chris Dobey, Michael Smith, Ross Smith, James Wade, Martin Schindler, Krzysztof Ratajski, Gary Anderson, and Peter Wright are in the field. As well as of course Wessel Nijman who has widely dominated the tour so far.
Each Players Championship event has £150,000 in prize money on offer. The tournament winner pockets the top prize of £15,000.
