Dirk van Duijvenbode produced a moment of magic on Monday by hitting a nine-darter during Players Championship 13. In his first-round match against Madars Razma, ‘Aubergenius’ managed to complete a leg in nine darts.
At the time of his nine-darter, Van Duijvenbode trailed 1-2 against his Latvian opponent. The ‘s-Gravenzande thrower then opened the fourth leg with scores of 177 and 180, before firing in a 144 checkout to seal the leg.
It was Van Duijvenbode’s fifth nine-darter on the PDC circuit. After throwing the perfect leg, the Dutchman surrendered just one more leg. Thanks to a 109.10 average, Van Duijvenbode won the tie 6-3.
