VAN GERWEN, CROSS, SMITH WIN EARLY; ANDERSON CRASHES OUT WITH 106 AVERAGE AT PC14

Former world champions Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, and Michael Smith were among the early winners on Tuesday at Players Championship 14 in Hildesheim, Germany. However, Gary Anderson suffered a shock exit despite averaging 106 in his match.

The ProTour event features a more sparse field than usual, with big names such as Van Gerwen, James Wade, Gary Anderson, Chris Dobey, Peter Wright, and Wessel Nijman leading the charge. Recent winners Beau Greaves and Kevin Doets are also back, aiming for more glory.

Anderson's early departure with a 106 average was one of the biggest surprises of the opening round. The full results and further updates are being tracked via live scores as the tournament progresses.
