Home favourite Mensur Suljovic kept the Austrian flag flying at the Austrian Open on Friday, setting up a second-round clash with James Wade on Saturday. However, the tournament saw two major casualties as Michael Smith and Raymond van Barneveld crashed out.

Suljovic, playing in front of a passionate home crowd, battled through his first-round match to secure his place in the next round. The Austrian will now face England's James Wade on Saturday in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

Meanwhile, Peter Wright registered his first European Tour victory of 2026 by defeating Austrian Zoran Lerchbacher 6-2. The world number two showed his class to dispatch the local hope and advance in the competition.

The Austrian Open continues this weekend, with fans able to watch Premier League Darts live on Sky Sports every Thursday.
