It was a double dose of exhibitions for the big names on Saturday night as Gerwyn Price, Stephen Bunting, Nathan Aspinall, Gary Anderson and Luke Humphries — all of whom decided not to play in Graz this weekend — took to the oche in either York or Colchester.
After the Armageddon exhibition in Leicester which saw many of those names involved, it was to further MDA/MODUS exhibitions in Colchester for Gerwyn Price who emerged on top in the showpiece clash against Bunting, whitewashing The Bullet 6-0. He also saw off John Part 3-0 in the opening match of the night. Adrian Lewis was also in action, first seeing off Mason Whitlock, son of Simon, while Simon Whitlock faced Bunting, with Bunting winning 3-2. Before Bunting faced Price, Nathan Aspinall took down Adrian Lewis 6-3. 'Jackpot' had said earlier in the week that he wanted to return to win a third World title and continues to get matches in against the big names in this exhibition environment.
Over in York, it was Anderson and Humphries that starred. Humphries was thrashed by the legendary Flying Scotsman 6-1 in the end with a 102.37 average, seven 180's and a 144 checkout — Anderson very much at his pomp as he has shown in bursts in the past 18 months. Humphries was fresh off his Leeds homecoming in the Premier League where he lost to Littler in the final. Humphries did get a win earlier in the night, downing Tom Sykes with a 106.54 average; Sykes averaged 96.55 in pushing his fellow Tour Card holder. Richie Parkin also faced off with Anderson and was well beaten 3-0 with a 92 average from Anderson. Meanwhile, Graham Usher took down Robert Thornton 3-0 in the other tie of note on Saturday, sealing victory with a 152 checkout.
