FORMER TOUR CARD HOLDER DANNY BAGGISH PROVISIONALLY SUSPENDED AFTER MATCH-FIXING ALLEGATION IN MODUS SUPER SERIES, RESPONDS WITH DEFIANT STATEMENT

Former Tour Card holder Danny Baggish has been provisionally suspended by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) following an allegation of match-fixing in the MODUS Super Series. The suspension, effective from May 3, was confirmed on the World Darts Federation (WDF) website. Baggish, known as 'The Gambler', had participated in the first week of the fourteenth season of the MODUS Super Series at the end of April, topping Group A to secure qualification for the finals night scheduled for Wednesday, April 29. However, he was absent from the finals night on Saturday, with no reason given at the time other than personal circumstances.

Baggish's participation in the MODUS Super Series marked a European comeback for the American, who had spent recent years back in his home country after his PDC Tour Card spells in 2021 and 2022. He returned to play in the International Pairs and the latest week of the MODUS Super Series following personal issues back home.

MODUS Super Series released a statement confirming their cooperation with the investigation. "MODUS Super Series acknowledges today's announcement by the Darts Regulation Authority regarding the suspension of Danny Baggish pending an investigation into an alleged breach of betting integrity regulations. We are cooperating fully with the DRA throughout its investigation. As is standard, we will not comment on the substance of an active regulatory matter. The integrity of the sport is fundamental to MODUS Super Series – as a tournament organiser, as a broadcaster, and as a partner to the wider darts ecosystem. We support the DRA in its role of safeguarding that integrity. No further comment will be issued until the DRA's process is concluded."

Baggish himself took to Facebook this afternoon to respond defiantly. "I obviously have been battling this ongoing allegation. I won't say anything just yet but I won't lay down over assumption. That is all! I'm ok with the messages and questions. I have nothing to hide!!! Thank you!"

This is not the first match-fixing case in the MODUS Super Series. Notable previous cases include Wessel Nijman, who was suspended for 2.5 years in 2020 and returned to the PDC circuit in 2023, now sitting inside the world's top 16. Leighton Bennett, Andy Jenkins, Prakash Jiwa, Kyle McKinstry, and Billy Warriner also fell foul after competing in the MODUS Super Series. Jiwa received an eight-year suspension in 2023, expiring in 2031. Bennett was found guilty of manipulating matches in 2024 and also suspended for eight years. Jenkins, a World Darts Championship semi-finalist in 2007, was charged in 2023 and banned for ten years. Outside MODUS, Gilbert Ulang was suspended for match-fixing at the PDC World Darts Championship itself, banned for seven years after losing 2-0 in sets to Kevin Simm in the preliminary round of the 2017 World Championship.
