The International Darts Open 2026 is set to take place from 22-24 May in Riesa, a European Tour staple, as the seventh of fifteen PDC European Tour events this season. The tournament features 48 players competing for a total prize fund of £230,000, with £35,000 awarded to the winner. Defending champion Stephen Bunting will return to defend his title, having defeated Nathan Aspinall 8-5 in last year's final. However, Aspinall will not play this year, having mainly featured in exhibitions recently.
Notable names returning to the European Tour for the first time in a while include Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price, alongside Gian van Veen, Michael van Gerwen, James Wade, Josh Rock, and others. Home hero Martin Schindler is also in the top sixteen. Luke Littler continues to skip European Tour events.
The prize money distribution is as follows: Winner £35,000, Runner-up £15,000, Semi-finals £10,000, Quarter-finals £8,000, Third round £5,000, Second round £3,500, and First round £2,000. An important detail: for seeded players (top 16) who lose their opening match, the prize money is not added to the rankings. However, qualifiers who become seeded due to withdrawals will have their prize money count towards rankings.
The prize money counts towards the PDC Order of Merit, the Pro Tour Order of Merit, and especially the European Tour Order of Merit, which determines qualification for the European Championship later in the season in Dortmund. A player's position on that list also affects seeding for the season finale.
