WORLD CUP OF DARTS 2026: 40 NATIONS SET FOR FRANKFURT AS ENGLAND LEAD THE FIELD

The 16th staging of the PDC World Cup of Darts is set to take place between 11-14 June, 2026 at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt. The tournament will feature 40 pairs of national teams competing for a total prize fund of £500,000, with the winning team sharing £100,000. Northern Ireland enter as defending champions after Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney beat Wales 10-9 in the 2025 final.

The seeded nations see England top the rankings with Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, starting in Round 2, followed by Netherlands (Gian van Veen and Michael van Gerwen), Northern Ireland (Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney), and Scotland (Gary Anderson and Cameron Menzies). Germany (Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko) begin in Round 1, alongside Belgium, Wales, Ireland, Poland, Sweden, Australia, Czech Republic, Austria, Latvia, Croatia, and Finland. Notable absentees include Gerwyn Price, who has decided to spend the week with his family, meaning Wales will be represented by Jonny Clayton and Nick Kenny.

The unseeded nations include Canada, China, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mongolia, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, and the United States. The draw will take place the week of the tournament, likely starting 8 June 2026, with the top four nations entering in the second round and the remaining players starting in the group stage.

Predictions from DartsNews.com editors are split. Samuel Gill sees Scotland winning the title, saying: 'I think that Gary Anderson will anchor Scotland from the front in Frankfurt alongside a livewire Cameron Menzies.' Lucas Michael picks Netherlands, noting: 'While Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen are not playing at their absolute best, I have a feeling their inconsistent form... will take a positive turn.' Bram Coenen favours England: 'I believe England will go all the way this year. The two Lukes are ambitious enough to make up for last year’s disappointment.' Nicolas Gayer also backs England: 'It’s coming home. If not in the USA, then at least in Frankfurt.' Pieter Verbeek and Mats Leering both see England as clear favourites, with Leering adding that Netherlands and Northern Ireland are the main challengers.
