ROSS SMITH DOMINATES AVERAGES EN ROUTE TO PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP 20 TITLE

Ross Smith claimed his second floor title of 2026 at Players Championship 20 in Milton Keynes, producing the two highest averages of the day. The former European champion averaged 108.58 in a third-round demolition of Ian White, then followed it with a 107.01 average in an 8-5 final victory over William O'Connor.

Smith's finishing was near-flawless, missing just three darts at double for a 73% checkout success rate. He also threw six 180s in the final, keeping the dangerous O'Connor at bay with a lightning display. His 101.33 average in a second-round whitewash of Dominik Gruellich ranked 15th on the day's average chart.

Wessel Nijman led the chasing pack, despite not adding to his five PC titles this year. He thrashed Connor Scutt 6-2 with a 105.77 average and followed it with a 106.34 average in a 6-3 win over Tom Bissell — the third-highest average of the tournament.

Chris Dobey's 104.95 average placed fifth, while losing finalist O'Connor impressed with a 101.52 average in a 6-1 win over Shane McGuirk and a 103.66 average in a whitewash of German number one Martin Schindler. Daryl Gurney's 103.13 average in the first round was his best of the day, and Jack Tweddell produced a peculiar swing — winning his first-round match with an 80 average before bumping up to 103.05 in a losing effort against Luke Woodhouse, who averaged 102.90. Danny Noppert (102.79) and Tom Sykes (102.47) rounded out the top 11.
