Gian van Veen recently rewarded himself with an impressive new car after an extremely successful year. The 24-year-old shared images on Instagram of his brand-new Audi Q8, catching the eye of fans and fellow darters. Former professional Vincent van der Voort commented on the purchase during the podcast Darts Draait Door.
Van Veen enjoyed the best year of his career in 2025, capturing the European Championship Darts title and reaching the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship final. He invested part of his prize money in a new home and continues to thrive in 2026, making his debut in the Premier League Darts. After the Premier League, he decided to treat himself to a new car.
On the podcast, presenter Damian Vlottes asked if Van Veen had driven his new car to the Nordic Darts Masters in Copenhagen, but it turned out he had flown. When the conversation turned to the Audi Q8, Van der Voort responded enthusiastically: “Wow, what a car, huh, gosh.” His admiration turned to surprise when the possible purchase price of €375,000 was mentioned. “You see those prices online for that car... I hope he didn’t actually pay that much,” Van der Voort joked. Vlottes stated the figure directly: “375,000 euros.” Van der Voort replied, “I read that too, yes. I’m curious, because that really is a price, isn’t it?”
Van der Voort stressed he isn’t jealous of his young colleague’s luxury purchase. “I’m not jealous, I’ve never really had that with those kinds of things,” he explained. “I’ve always had super nice cars and I’m now driving a nice one from the sponsor. But I don’t feel I need to drive a car like that too.” According to Van der Voort, the true value of a car isn’t in the price tag: “Usually after a few months it’s just a car.”
Whether Van Veen actually paid the quoted amount for his Audi remains unclear. What is certain is that the Dutch darter is currently enjoying the fruits of his sporting success, with major titles, lucrative appearances, and an impressive new car.
