Daryl Gurney may have missed out on the World Grand Prix, but the Northern Irish darter has something far more special to celebrate. "SuperChin" has become engaged to his partner Josie Paterson, announcing the news himself via his Instagram account.

Gurney shared a photo of the moment, showing him alongside Paterson. The proposal took place in Marbella and received the desired answer. "26/09/26 - My girlfriend become my Fiancée. Thank you for saying yes to me and to be my wife," said Gurney on Instagram. The two-time major winner closed his post with hashtags such as "engaged," "fiancée," and "Spain."

Congratulations poured in beneath the announcement, including from Ricky Evans and Fallon Sherrock among others. Gurney beat Michael van Gerwen at the World Series of Darts Finals and while he didn't qualify for the World Grand Prix — the tournament that made his name as a major champion — he did manage to bring some good news from the past week even if it wasn't playing in Leicester.

Paterson is the daughter of former Lakeside finalist Lorraine Winstanley, so there is darting pedigree on both sides of the couple. But now they will become husband and wife. Congratulations to Daryl and Josie!
