WILLIAM O'CONNOR WINS FIVE LEGS ON THE BOUNCE TO SEAL COMFORTABLE VICTORY AT SWISS DARTS TROPHY

William O'Connor produced a dominant run of five consecutive legs to secure a comfortable victory in the first round of the Swiss Darts Trophy on Friday afternoon. The win came as the first batch of round one matches were completed in the third edition of the tournament, with a stacked lineup of talent battling for second round places in this afternoon's session.

Former world champion Rob Cross is the standout name in action, with Joe Cullen and Cameron Menzies also featuring in the session. The afternoon's play saw O'Connor's five-leg burst prove decisive as he advanced to the next round.

The Swiss Darts Trophy is taking place in Basel, with the event marking its third edition. The tournament features a strong field, though several high-profile names have withdrawn, including Gerwyn Price, Gary Anderson and Nathan Aspinall.

Play continues throughout the day, with Rob Cross, Raymond van Barneveld and Michael Smith among those scheduled to compete. The prize money on offer in Basel has also been a topic of discussion, with Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries among the favourites for the title.
