THREE DEBUTANTS BOOK ALLY PALLY SPOTS: BORBELY, VAN STADEN AND WEN QUALIFY FOR 2027 PDC WORLD DARTS CHAMPIONSHIP

Three more names have confirmed their spot in the 2027 PDC World Darts Championship, with the major event at Ally Pally coming into sight. Andras Borbely, Rudie van Staden and Lihao Wen are the three most recent players to have put their name in the hat, each securing their place through different qualifying events in their respective regions.

Borbely qualified via the Hungarian Super League and will make his debut at the World Championship as he looks to represent his country with pride. The 21-year-old finished fourth in the Hungarian Super League but moved up the gears as it went to the final round. Not even dropping a set, there was little doubt who would qualify via this route. He will look to strut his stuff on the Ally Pally stage in what is a golden opportunity to get his name out there.

Van Staden was victorious in the African Darts Group Southern Africa Qualifier, an event for players from Southern Africa with some familiar names in action. He defeated the top seed, Johan Geldenhuys, before putting in a very commendable final performance against Cameron Carolissen, who had previously competed at Ally Pally on two separate occasions. Carolissen was not set to return this time round with Van Staden prevailing 8-3.

Over in Asia, another debutant has been confirmed with Wen coming out on top in the China Championship. He set up a final clash versus Xiaochen Zong and bettered his Chinese rival 3-0 in set play. He became the second player to win the China Championship, following in the footsteps of Zong, with the 43-year-old raring to make the trip to Ally Pally.

There are still a number of qualifying events to be played out. Borbely, Van Staden and Wen take care of three pieces of the puzzle, but numerous other slots still needed to be filled ahead of the major tournament commencing from December 11. The next ones on the radar are the CDC Continental Cup, the PDC Nordic & Baltic Championship and the Mediterranean qualifying tournament, which take place on Sunday, 8th November.
