Wessel Nijman has earned a place in an exclusive group through his performances on the Players Championship Tour. The Dutchman won no fewer than six Players Championship titles in 2026, making him only the third Dutch player to claim the most titles on the floor circuit in a single season, according to statistician TheRedBit180. Only Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen had achieved the feat before him.
Nijman enjoyed an outstanding season on the Players Championship Tour. His six tournament wins put him well clear of his rivals, and he also finished top of the Players Championship Order of Merit. That secured him the number-one seed for the Players Championship Finals in Minehead.
Nijman’s achievements are also notable from a historical perspective. Van Barneveld was the first Dutch player to finish a season with the most Players Championship titles, doing so in 2007. The five-time world champion won four events that year, matching Phil Taylor’s tally. Van Gerwen then led the title count in 2012, 2013 and 2016. His 2012 campaign was especially impressive, as he also won six Players Championship events. The Brabander claimed five titles in 2016.
Nijman’s six titles also mark a notable achievement. The last player to win more Players Championship events in a single season was Phil Taylor in 2009. The 16-time world champion claimed nine titles that year. Taylor also holds the record for the most Players Championship titles in a single season. In 2008, the Englishman won on the floor circuit an impressive 11 times.
For comparison, Gerwyn Price was the most successful player in 2025, with four titles. A year earlier, Chris Dobey and Luke Littler shared top spot with three tournament wins apiece. With six titles, Nijman has not only enjoyed the best season of any current Tour Card holder, but also achieved something not seen on the Players Championship Tour since 2009.
