Danny Noppert has advanced to the third round of the German Darts Grand Prix after a tense 6-5 victory over Ritchie Edhouse in the second round. The Dutchman, known as "The Freeze," prevailed in a nail-biter that went to a deciding leg, showcasing what he described as crucial mental resilience in a fiercely contested match.
Noppert admitted to preferring comfortable wins but noted his ability to perform under pressure. "Of course I want to have a comfortable win, but it's not every time that way," he told DartsNews. "But most of the time when I'm on 5-5, I'm crucial in my last leg. It was a brilliant last leg of course." He will now face Karel Sedlacek in the next round.
The win comes amid increased attention on Noppert, who was prominently mentioned in discussions for the Premier League Darts lineup at the start of the year but ultimately missed out. Reflecting on his current form, he stated, "I think I can do better. Of course I'm happy to play darts every tournament. I enjoy every time, but I think I can do better. So far I like it."
