American influencer and boxer Jake Paul has stirred debate in the darts world by claiming he could take on former world champion Gerwyn Price and even humiliate him at the oche. Paul, nicknamed 'The Problem Child', who has shared the ring with the likes of Mike Tyson and Anthony Joshua, suggested in a conversation with Sky Sports that he could make an impact in darts, stating: "Yeah I wouldn't want to embarrass him, but I'm thinking of coming in and just taking over the game... I'm a hunter and I have perfect aim."
This is not the first time Paul has inserted himself into elite sport outside his discipline, having risen to fame through YouTube before transitioning into boxing. His comments follow a previous exchange where he floated the idea of a crossover clash with Price, prompting the former world champion to dismiss him, saying: "He's a YouTuber, not a fighter, right?" Price also revealed that Paul later contacted him privately after those remarks.
For now, there is no indication that anything concrete will come from Paul's remarks. As with many of his previous callouts, the comments are far more likely to generate attention and reaction than lead to any serious crossover into the sport.
