KEVIN DOETS EYES BREAKTHROUGH TITLE AFTER HISTORIC EURO TOUR RUN IN MUNICH

Kevin Doets has taken a significant step forward in his career by reaching the finals session of a European Tour event for the first time, defeating compatriot Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-5 in the last 16 of the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich. The Dutchman hit 10 180s and averaged 107.70 in the match, showcasing his growing prowess on the big stage. "Amazing, you know. I have fought for this for a couple of years now, and to be finally able to do it in this way is amazing," Doets told DartsNews after the win.

Doets highlighted his calm demeanor as a key factor, contrasting with Van Duijvenbode's energetic style. "I don't really care who I play. If he's a cool character, if he is a very energetic character. I just try to play my own game, and I think I did it very well today," he said. Away from the board, he emphasized his focus, shutting out distractions like crowd noise and support from his entourage. "I don't look at them, I don't listen to them," he added. "I am on the stage doing my own thing, focussing on my own mind and I don't try to distract myself with anyone or anything else."

With this quarterfinal berth, Doets has set clear ambitions for the season. "At least I would like to win a title. If it's the Players Championships or if it's the Euro Tour, I would like to walk away this year with a title," he stated. "If not, then I won't be satisfied." He is set to face another Dutch player, Niels Zonneveld, in the quarterfinals of the German Darts Grand Prix on Monday evening, as he continues his pursuit of that breakthrough victory.
