NATHAN ASPINALL ETCHES NAME IN HISTORY AS ONLY PLAYER TO WIN EURO TOUR TITLES AS #8 SEED — AND HE'S DONE IT TWICE

Nathan Aspinall has carved out a unique piece of European Tour history, becoming the only player to win a Euro Tour event as the number eight seed — and he has achieved this remarkable feat not once, but twice. The Englishman first accomplished this at the 2025 European Darts Trophy, the second event of that season, where he entered as the eighth seed and stunned the field by lifting the title, showcasing his ability to peak under pressure in the decisive stages.

This year, Aspinall repeated the accomplishment at the German Darts Grand Prix, the fourth Euro Tour event of the season. Once again seeded eighth, he battled through a strong field and defeated Dutchman Danny Noppert 8-5 in the final to secure his fourth European Tour title. What makes this achievement stand out is that several elite players, including Michael van Gerwen in 2024, Dirk van Duijvenbode in 2023, Rob Cross in 2022, and Peter Wright in 2019, all failed to win a Euro Tour title when seeded eighth, highlighting Aspinall's resilience and form at critical moments.

The European Tour will now take a brief pause this weekend before resuming on April 17, 18, and 19, 2026, with the European Darts Grand Prix set to take place in Sindelfingen, Germany. Gary Anderson will start that tournament as defending champion, having beaten Andrew Gilding 8-0 in last year's final. Aspinall's historic double-upset cements his status as a player who defies seeding expectations in a sport defined by fine margins and fierce competition.
