JOE CULLEN PICKS HIS DARTS FIVE-A-SIDE FOOTBALL TEAM: 'THE OLD DOBEY WHEN HE WAS... HEAVIER, STICK HIM AT THE BACK'

Joe Cullen has revealed his humorous picks for an improvised five-a-side football team made up of fellow darts players, showcasing the lighthearted camaraderie behind the scenes. In a playful chat, Cullen named Nathan Aspinall as goalkeeper, joking, "I don't believe that... he had trials once — apparently," but still selecting him. He placed Luke Littler in midfield, noting, "Littler likes to play, so I'll have him... he's left-footed as well, I think, so he looks a bit classy," and added that Littler would be "the one doing all the work, spreading it about."

Cullen included himself up front with self-deprecating humor, saying, "Yeah, I'm in there. Definitely, I'm in there... you've got me up top doing nothing." He also gave Ross Smith a key role, describing him as the player who "pulls the strings" in the team. The most comical moment came with Chris Dobey's selection, as Cullen laughed, "The old Dobey when he was... heavier, stick him at the back — he's not the most mobile, is he?"

Not everyone made the cut, with Jonny Clayton left out due to an alleged rugby injury, as Cullen quipped, "You can't have Jonny — he's rugby injured." The final team consists of Aspinall in goal, Dobey in defence, Smith as playmaker, Littler in midfield, and Cullen in attack, with Cullen confirming, "That's it, isn't it? Me, Ross, Dobey, Nathan and Littler." The conversation wrapped with a lighthearted comment on player outfits from a recent event in Sheldon, though Cullen wasn't entirely convinced they looked good.
