Devon Petersen has booked his return to the World Cup of Darts in June by winning the African Darts Group qualifying tournament last weekend. The South African secured his spot with an 8-4 victory over compatriot Johan Geldenhuys in Kimberley, where he took control midway through the match and won five of the last six legs to seal the win.
This will mark Petersen's twelfth appearance at the global team event. In Frankfurt, he will reunite with Graham Filby, his partner from a decade ago when they reached the quarterfinals in 2014—their second last-eight run.
China has also finalized its team for the tournament, with Qingyu Zhan and Xiaochen Zong set to represent the Asian nation. Both players impressed during the opening weekend of the China ProTour, each claiming two titles to top the national rankings at qualification time. Zhan will make his World Cup debut, while Zong is set for his fourth consecutive appearance.
The 2026 World Cup of Darts will be held from June 11 to June 14 in Frankfurt, featuring forty national teams and a total prize fund of £500,000. Defending champion Northern Ireland, which won its first title last year with Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney edging Wales' Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton 10-9 in the final, will aim to retain the trophy.
