PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS HEADS TO ROTTERDAM: LITTLER FACES HOSTILE CROWD, DUTCH DUO RETURN HOME FOR NIGHT 11

The Premier League Darts arrives in the Netherlands on Thursday, 16 April, with Rotterdam Ahoy hosting Night 11 of the competition. Dutch stars Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen will aim for the nightly title on home soil. The event first came to Rotterdam in 2016, when Van Gerwen defeated Phil Taylor 7-5 and Raymond van Barneveld drew 6-6 with Peter Wright. In 2018, a cancelled night in Exeter led to two consecutive nights in Rotterdam, featuring a memorable 7-5 win for Van Barneveld over Van Gerwen. A year later, Van Gerwen won their rematch 7-1.

Since the new format, Rotterdam has seen three different nightly winners. Van Gerwen won in 2022 by beating Jonny Clayton 6-5 in the final. In 2023, Nathan Aspinall won after eliminating Van Gerwen in the opening round. In 2024, Aspinall won again after Van Gerwen lost his opener to Luke Humphries. Last year, no Dutchman reached the final, with Chris Dobey beating Stephen Bunting 6-2.

The Night 11 quarter-finals kick off at 6:15 PM with Luke Littler facing Gerwyn Price. Littler is expected to face a hostile reception from Dutch fans after a run-in with Gian van Veen in Manchester, potentially affecting his play after he posted an 83.94 average—his lowest TV average in the PDC—amid boos in Brighton last week. Littler holds second place with 21 points. Price, who won his second nightly title in Manchester with three ton-plus averages but lost his opener to Josh Rock last week, sits third with 19 points. Price has yet to beat Littler in their four Premier League meetings this year.

Next, Gian van Veen takes on Luke Humphries at 6:45 PM. Van Veen, currently fifth and four points behind fourth-placed Van Gerwen, has been boom-or-bust, reaching finals (all losses) or exiting in openers. Humphries, world No. 2, is seventh with 11 points and has not won a night, reaching only one final in 10 weeks. Since January 2025, Humphries has beaten Van Veen only twice in nine meetings, though one win came in their sole Premier League encounter this year.

At 7:15 PM, Michael van Gerwen meets Jonny Clayton in a repeat of last week's final, which Clayton won 6-5. Van Gerwen has reached four finals this campaign, winning only the opening night in Newcastle. Clayton leads the table with 24 points and three nightly wins, having beaten Van Gerwen in both their previous Premier League meetings this year. Van Gerwen has won two nights in Rotterdam under the new format, in 2022 and 2024.

The final quarter-final at 7:45 PM features Stephen Bunting against Josh Rock. Bunting is sixth with 11 points and needs strong results to challenge for the top four. Rock's Finals Night chances are slim unless he wins three nights in a row, but he has won his opener in the past three weeks. Bunting beat Rock 6-1 earlier this Premier League and holds a 6-2 head-to-head advantage in eight meetings.
