PAUL KROHNE FOCUSED ON FINISHING TRAINING BEFORE DARTS FUTURE DECISION AFTER EUROPEAN TOUR EXIT

Paul Krohne remains grounded about his darts future despite a strong 2026 season, telling DartsNews "First finish my training, then we'll see what comes next." The 25-year-old German spoke reflectively after losing 3-6 to Andrew Gilding in the first round of the European Darts Grand Prix 2026 at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen on Friday afternoon – his fourth European Tour appearance and second at that venue.

Krohne assessed his performance by saying "Better than last year. I think I played better last year – but today, unfortunately, too many darts at the double went begging." Last year at the same venue, he suffered a 0-6 defeat to Ross Smith. Against Gilding, whom he faced for the first time, Krohne noted: "I think he's very relaxed to play against. He just plays his game, no matter what the opponent does, and I simply didn't offer enough, I think."

Despite the early exit, Krohne's participation highlights his strong form in 2026. He has already won the Dutch Open Darts – described as the largest darts tournament in the world – and secured two titles on the PDC Europe NEXT GEN tour. However, his career planning remains deliberately cautious. After earning a PDC Tour Card in 2024, he voluntarily returned it after one year to focus on vocational training, a priority that hasn't changed.

Krohne's immediate focus shifts to the Modus Super Series, where he will compete in International Pairs Week alongside Daniel Klose for Team Germany. He kept expectations in check, stating: "I think we're both up for it and we'll just see what happens."
