David Cameron captured the CDC Cross-Border Darts Challenge 2026 title on Saturday, defeating Adam Sevada 7-3 in Newfoundland to seal victory on home soil for Team Canada. The 56-year-old Canadian's triumph also secured him a spot at the US Darts Masters 2026 in June and a ticket to the World Darts Championship, making him the first confirmed international qualifier for the biggest tournament of the year.
Cameron was in form all weekend at the fourth edition of the event. He opened his campaign with a whitewash against former World Matchplay champion Larry Butler. On finals day, he first beat compatriot Jeff Smith 5-3, winning four of the last five legs, then proved too strong for Kiley Edmunds with a 6-2 semi-final win. Defending champion Leonard Gates was knocked out on the opening night by Jacob Taylor, while Stowe Buntz, a former Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finalist, also exited surprisingly early.
Adam Sevada reached the final by eliminating three-time world champion John Part in the opening round, then posting averages of 93 and 91 in wins over Jim Long and Darryl Christie. Sevada started the final strongly, taking a 3-2 lead with two consecutive 14-dart legs. However, Cameron hit straight back with a superb 12-darter that swung the momentum, then produced a crisp 110 checkout to lead for the first time at 4-3. Another 12-darter followed, sealed with an excellent 164 checkout, pushing Cameron 5-3 ahead. Sevada had no answer to his opponent's surge as Cameron forced a break in 16 darts and held throw to wrap up the final convincingly at 7-3.
The Championship Darts Circuit continues next month in Niagara Falls, with Events 1 and 2 of the new season on the schedule along with an open qualifier for the US Darts Masters on 08/05 and 09/05.
