AUSTRIAN DARTS OPEN 2026: FIELD, SCHEDULE, AND PREDICTIONS AS NIJMAN AND NOPPERT LEAD FANCIES

The Austrian Darts Open is set to take place between 8-10 May 2026 at the Stadthalle Graz in Graz, Austria. It will be the sixth of fifteen PDC European Tour events on the ProTour, featuring a field of 48 players and £230,000 in prize money with £35,000 going to the winner. Martin Schindler is the defending champion, having defeated Ross Smith 8-4 in the 2025 final.

Gian van Veen is top seed, joined by Michael van Gerwen, James Wade, Josh Rock, Danny Noppert and Wessel Nijman among others. Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gary Anderson and Nathan Aspinall all won't appear in Graz. The draw will be confirmed on Thursday 7 May at around 12pm BST/1pm CET, with the schedule confirmed soon after. ProTour players face qualifiers on Day One, with the top 16 seeds entering on Saturday.

Several editors have made their predictions. Samuel Gill sees Wessel Nijman scooping the title, saying: 'With the advent of big names continuing to skip the tournaments... opportunity always knocks and for me, it will be Dutch players who will thrive again.' Nicolas Gayer picks Danny Noppert for glory, noting Noppert has reached four European Tour finals and made the final of the Austrian Darts Open in 2022. Mats Leering picks a Welsh winner, naming Jonny Clayton as favourite, while Pieter Verbeek also picks Nijman, citing his five ranking titles this season including a European Tour crown. Bram Coenen sees Gian van Veen or Wessel Nijman sealing glory, and Oliver Ried and Lucas Michael both back Noppert to finally claim his first European Tour title.

The seeded players list includes Gian van Veen (1), Michael van Gerwen (2), James Wade (3), Josh Rock (4), Danny Noppert (5), Ryan Searle (6), Chris Dobey (7), Ross Smith (8), Martin Schindler (9), Jermaine Wattimena (10), Mike De Decker (11), Damon Heta (12), Wessel Nijman (13), Luke Woodhouse (14), Rob Cross (15), and Daryl Gurney (16). Qualifiers include Dirk van Duijvenbode, Cameron Menzies, Niels Zonneveld, Niko Springer, Krzysztof Ratajski, William O'Connor, Ryan Joyce, Dave Chisnall, Andrew Gilding, Joe Cullen, Karel Sedláček, Kevin Doets, Peter Wright, Ricardo Pietreczko, Raymond van Barneveld, Robert Owen, Michael Smith, James Hurrell, Ian White, Nick Kenny, Chris Landman, Cristo Reyes, Gabriel Clemens, Alan Soutar, Kim Huybrechts, Anton Östlund (Nordic & Baltic), and Patrik Kovács (East European). A host nation qualifier is still TBC.
