Three-time World Champion John Lowe MBE has called for Beau Greaves to receive royal recognition after her latest exploits on the Women's Series. Lowe, himself an MBE, penned a message on Facebook praising the 22-year-old from Doncaster, highlighting her astonishing achievements and comparing her impact on the sport to that of Luke Littler.
Greaves has just concluded the latest Women's Series weekend and will head back onto the ProTour tomorrow for the latest set of Players Championship tournaments in Leicester. Lowe noted that Greaves has won 134 out of 135 matches on the ladies tour before arriving at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester this weekend. He wrote: "An astonishing achievement when you consider the quality of the players. Trina Gulliver, 10 times World Champion, Sherrock, Hedman, Winstanley, Ashton, just a few of the very best. This morning Beau's number of wins has increased after winning series 9 and 10."
Lowe pointed to Greaves' record: three consecutive WDF World Darts Championship titles, two Women's World Matchplay tournaments, 114 matches on the spin on the Women's Series, and 55 titles in all. But perhaps her biggest achievement, even to her own standards, is that she won Players Championship 11 earlier this month, becoming the first ever woman to do so, and has blazed a trail as the only woman currently on the ProTour playing to a standard never seen in the modern era by a female player.
Lowe compared Greaves to Littler, saying: "Beau Greaves is doing what Littler did for the sport, she is a phenomenal player of this generation, at the moment better than she thinks, how many players have achieved two nine dart legs at 22, and I mean everyone, male and female." He added: "Her aspiration is to play on the European Tour and qualify for a few Majors, in her own words 'I love playing darts, so it's a bonus for me' while Littler is receiving recognition for the interest and growth in the sport, Beau Greaves is doing the very same, she is a Champion among Champions, I believe a trip to the Palace for recognition to our sport would be fitting."
Lowe was one of only a few until recently to receive such an honour. In darts, it has now become more of an open field, with Luke Littler and Luke Humphries also receiving MBEs as of late. Fallon Sherrock received one after she became the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Darts Championship, following Trina Gulliver getting one in 2023. Keith Deller was also recognised later on in 2024 for his charitable work, and Deta Hedman received an OBE.
