Ross Smith has surged to the summit of the European Tour Order of Merit following his maiden European Tour title at the International Darts Open in Riesa. The former European Champion defeated Ryan Searle 8-3 in the final to clinch the title, having previously lost four finals on the tour. His victory earned him £75,000, propelling him past Josh Rock, who drops to second spot with £61,000 after an early exit in Riesa. Smith now leads Rock by £14,000.
Wessel Nijman holds third place despite an early exit to James Wade, extending his gap to the absent Gerwyn Price, who was a late withdrawal. Nathan Aspinall and Luke Humphries also did not compete, remaining fifth and sixth respectively, each with one Euro Tour title in 2026. Danny Noppert slots into seventh, followed by world number one Luke Littler in eighth, who has played only two events but won the Poland Darts Open. Kevin Doets and Niels Zonneveld complete the top 10.
Michael van Gerwen sits 13th, behind Jonny Clayton in 12th, who did not travel. Martin Schindler and world number three Gian van Veen follow closely. Van Veen has risen into the top 16 after winning a brace of games. Ryan Searle, still awaiting his first Euro Tour title, is 17th. Stephen Bunting, the 2025 champion, is 32nd, with James Wade one place ahead. Joe Cullen has dropped out of the top 32, and Dave Chisnall languishes in 35th after a torrid weekend with averages in the mid-80s. Peter Wright and Mike De Decker sit 76th and 82nd with just £3,500 earned, while Raymond van Barneveld is outside the top 100.
The European Tour continues on the weekend of May 29, 30, and 31 with the Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel. Gerwyn Price begins the tournament as defending champion after defeating Gary Anderson 8-3 in last year's final.
