World No 1 Luke Littler broke down in tears on stage after an 11-10 victory over Luke Humphries in the Premier League Darts final at The O2 in London. The emotional scenes came as Littler revealed he had questioned his future in the competition following incidents earlier in the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports Darts after the match, Littler said: “We’re just humans.” The 19-year-old’s raw display of emotion highlighted the mental toll of the season, with the world champion admitting the struggle had been far greater than fans realised.

Littler’s triumph over Humphries in a nail-biting decider capped a dramatic night at The O2, but the tears that followed told a deeper story. The teenager had previously hinted at the pressure of competing at the highest level, but this was the first time he had openly broken down in front of the cameras.

“It’s been a tough few months,” Littler said, without elaborating on the specific incidents that had made him consider walking away. “To come through that and win here, in front of this crowd, means everything.”

The victory sees Littler add another Premier League title to his growing collection, but the lasting image of the night will be the sight of the world No 1 weeping on the oche, a stark reminder of the human cost behind the sport’s brightest star.
