PDC OPENS AMATEUR ROUTE TO 2027 UK OPEN WITH SIXTEEN SPOTS UP FOR GRABS

The PDC has announced the qualifying series for the 2027 UK Open, with sixteen amateur players set to earn a place at the major televised tournament. The UK Open takes place at Butlin's Minehead Resort from 5 to 7 March, and the qualifiers will be held at venues across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

All sixteen amateur spots will be awarded through venues affiliated with the PDC In The Community initiative. Each venue will first host preliminary rounds, followed by a decisive qualifying event to determine who earns a place in the UK Open. Thirteen venues in England have been selected, with each able to send one amateur player to the tournament. They include Somercotes Snooker Club in Alfreton and Enderby & District Social Club.

Amateur players in Scotland, Ireland and Wales will also have the opportunity to qualify. Preliminary rounds will take place at several venues in Scotland, before the decisive qualifying day at the Imperial Bar in Inverness. The final for Irish players will be held at Christy's Bar in Kerry. In Wales, Kings Sports Bar in Newport has been selected as a qualifying venue, where four preliminary rounds will be followed by a decisive final event.

The first preliminary rounds are scheduled for 7 November, with The Portland Social Club among the venues launching its qualifying campaign that day. All sixteen amateurs who qualify through the series must be confirmed by 7 February 2027.

The PDC confirmed the news on social media, stating: "The Amateur Qualifier Series for the 2027 Ladbrokes UK Open has been confirmed, giving amateur players the chance to secure their place in Minehead next year!"
