WESSEL NIJMAN CLAIMS FOURTH TITLE OF SEASON AS DOBEY, GREAVES & WAITES SHINE IN WIGAN

Wessel Nijman and Chris Dobey continued their ProTour dominance by claiming the titles at Players Championship 9 and 10 in Wigan, with Nijman's victory marking his fourth ranking title of the season. Dobey secured his 10th Players Championship crown by defeating Justin Hood in the final, while Nijman stormed to an 8-2 win over Scott Waites in the PC10 decider.

Nijman's triumph was part of a remarkable display that included a 109.71 average in an eight-leg victory over Beau Greaves in the quarter-finals, as well as wins over Niels Zonneveld and Adam Gawlas – the latter with a 110 average. The Dutch prodigy now holds a commanding lead in the ProTour Order of Merit and is within about £3,000 of the world's top 16. His recent success also includes a European Tour trophy, fueling discussion about his readiness for a major breakthrough.

Beau Greaves impressed with quarter-final appearances at both events, moving up to 22nd in the Players Championship Order of Merit and closing in on qualification for the Players Championship Finals and PDC World Darts Championship. Scott Waites, despite not holding a Tour Card, reached the final of PC10 by defeating Karel Sedlacek in the semi-finals, showcasing the depth of talent on the ProTour.

Other notable performances included Kevin Doets, who reached the fourth round on Monday and the quarter-finals on Tuesday after defeating Peter Wright and James Wade, recording three averages well over 100. Niels Zonneveld has effectively secured qualification for both the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix, while Justin Hood's run to the PC9 final demonstrated his floor talent. German darts struggled, with only Dominik Grüllich reaching a board final at PC9 and Gabriel Clemens and Daniel Klose advancing to the last 16 at PC10.
