CLAYTON'S 106 AVERAGE STARS AS SCHINDLER COMPLETES THRILLING COMEBACK AT EUROPEAN DARTS GRAND PRIX

Jonny Clayton produced the performance of the night with a 106.78 average in a commanding 6-1 victory over Valters Melderis, hitting six perfect darts at one stage, as the second round of the European Darts Grand Prix concluded on Saturday evening in Sindelfingen. Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, and Nathan Aspinall also progressed safely, with Aspinall sealing a dominant 6-1 win over Jeffrey de Zwaan that included a superb 170 finish.

Van Gerwen delivered a composed 6-2 win over Michael Unterbuchner, relying on clinical finishing in a controlled contest, while Price edged a competitive 6-4 encounter against Dave Chisnall, a match decided by missed doubles at crucial moments. James Wade rolled back the years with a 104.15 average in a 6-3 triumph over Kim Huybrechts, highlighted by a stunning 144 finish.

The most dramatic tie saw Martin Schindler ignite the Glaspalast crowd with a thrilling 6-5 comeback win over Damon Heta. After struggling early with an average in the 60s, Schindler found a sudden spark, producing heavy scoring and timely finishing to level the match before edging a tense deciding leg, sparking huge celebrations in the arena.

Elsewhere, Joe Cullen punished missed opportunities from Gian van Veen to claim a 6-3 victory, and Ross Smith opened the session with a solid 6-3 win over Cameron Menzies, with both matches seeing clinical finishing prove decisive. With the second round complete, the tournament moves into the last 16 on Sunday, with the biggest names still firmly in contention.
